The announcement came after the reported losses on Friday with Blackberry losing ground from its traditional business clients to iPhones and Android smartphones.

Once herled as one of the fastest growing companies in the world Blackberry owners RIM have struggled to keep up with rivals in the smartphone market mainly due to the outdated feel of the user interface / operating system of the phone compared to the Apple iOS and Android OS.

Of all app enquiries we receive at Roller the first app to be developed is always for the iOS and Android OS. We’ve noticed that though a number of clients still request Blackberry apps this has dropped off around 70% since the start of the year.

Blackberry have confirmed they will focus efforts on the cheaper end of the consumer market however refocus on the enterprise business sector and capitalise on their leading position within this segment.

The key to RIM staying afloat is the launch of their new Blackberry 10 operating system which has already been delayed.
