The final of The Great British Bake Off airs this evening, so what could be a better excuse to get some freshly baked treats in the office? The Roller team were set the task of baking something to wow us, and they definitely stepped up to the plate!

With guest judge Tom Price from 3WN stepping into the role of Paul Hollywood (a little too naturally) the contestants were kept on their toes with some tough critiques. Tom didn’t hold back when commenting on Martin’s Apple and Cranberry Slice “the cranberry gets lost and it’s slightly under baked”.

No baker was exempt from the wrath of Paul and Mary AKA Tom and Roller mobile app developer Ajesh. Arkadiusz’ banana and chocolate cake was finished with blue icing to resemble the Roller logo, however this was not a design feature enjoyed by Tom who described it as “toothpaste topping” and scored it accordingly.

Points were awarded for creativity, texture and overall taste. After all the bakes had been tried and ranked, scores were totalled providing a clear winner. Graphic designer Ryan was crowned our Star Baker with his simple but tasty chocolate chip cookies. Congratulations Ryan, now on with eating the huge amount of cake left over. I’m sure this is a challenge we can definitely step up to!
