Roller Agency has had a huge year in 2014. We’ve tripled our workforce and made great strides within the local market, working with more and more fantastic Nottingham based businesses.

The year started with a bang with the launch of the PET-XI e-learning GCSE Maths app for iOS and Android. This was an unusual app for us, our team are always keen to build native apps however due to the requirements of the client, we developed a single app to work on both platforms with great success using Phonegap & Angular JS.

In January we also begin working with premium oven brand Rangemaster, creating a prototype application controller for their range of ovens. This is currently with their internal R&D department and we eagerly await the implementation. Another great project we’ve worked on this year was the Countdown Keeper app for our friends at Katie & Jane. This proved an instant hit on the App Store when it launched, racking in thousands of downloads worldwide.

Our growing experience in mobile development and usability has led to stronger relationships with existing clients as we continue to expand the number of projects we work on with them. Health management products have been an important part of our offering over the last few years. And this looks set to continue to be the cornerstone of Roller moving into 2015 as we see wearable tech becoming more widely used.

Spring brought our first addition to the team of 2014 as PHP Developer Ajesh joined us. He was shortly followed by Ryan, a new graphic design graduate from Derby University. They’ve both already proved themselves to be valuable members of our workforce. Placement student Sam joined us in June as an Android Application Developer, from De Montfort University. With all these new faces we quickly found ourselves having to move to a new office after outgrowing our existing space!

Delivery of a large-scale update to one of our clients loyalty based apps for both Android and iOS brought a close to the summer. At the same time Web Developer Freeman returned to the Roller team, along with newbie Adam who became a part-time Mobile Developer. Autumn saw Bre arrive as our first Account Executive, which was a much needed position as our client list continues to grow. We were also joined by Panos, an Android Developer who has taken some of the strain off our hectic development team, bringing our workforce up to 10.

Looking forward into 2015; we’re working hard to deliver a range of fitness apps for MYZONE® which will be launching next year. We are also beginning a project to provide local charity Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes with a free website redesign to help them develop a site that more closely fulfils their requirements. Yet again our current space has become slightly snug, so we are excited to be moving into our new studio when redevelopment is complete. The studio will be a much larger, separate unit still located in The OldKnows Factory, Nottingham.

We’ve had a huge year in 2014, and are now ready for some much recuperation over the Christmas period. 2015 will no doubt be equally, if not more, full on then this year and we’re raring to go!
