Warwick Town Council web pitch

Written By Martin Sandhu

We were approached by Warwick Town Council in late 2011 to look at refreshing their existing website design.

The current website hasn’t been updated since 2006 and the town council is no longer confident that the site was serving its purpose.

Another issue is that since 2006 access to the Internet from mobile devices has grown considerably therefore it’s important that a website renders correctly on the majority of mobile browsers. Mobile devices have their limitations which can make using a website frustrating on such a device because of the smaller screen size, low bandwidth and less processing power.

In our approach we created a visually appealing layout that captured all the fun that can be had in Warwick along with easy accommodation search, booking and a guide to the local markets and cafes in the Warwick area.

Our approach to the website appearing on multiple devices was to have a responsive and adaptive layout for our web design. Responsive web design is an approach to design and development aimed at creating designs that respond to the behaviour and environment of a user based on platform, screen size and orientation. This typically involves using a combination of flexible layouts, images and grid as well as clever use of CSS media queries to adapt the design depending on screen resolution.

Our designs below show three examples of our responsive web design approach including mobile versions for the Apple iPhone and Apple iPad.
